Purpose of the institution
The girls at St. Joseph’s come from poor fishermen families, whose parents are no longer in a position to raise their children themselves. For the most part, the girls are orphans or semi-orphans from large families, or families whose fathers can no longer work. The Government’s social network is insufficient to secure these girls’ lives and health. The children are usually brought to the home by Sisters of the Order Daughters of Mary.
